Our client is a manufacturer of engineered industrial/commercial products and a corporation with more than 50 worldwide plants. The corporation is focused on growth, organic and via acquisition, with a strong top-down commitment to lean transformation throughout its operating units. This business unit is headquartered in Los Angeles, and is the main manufacturing location among its three locations in the US, Europe, and China. The LA plant is deeply engaged in lean transformation. Reorganization creates a new operations leadership role, Manufacturing Manager, to drive customer performance improvement and accelerate lean implementation. The Manufacturing Manager develops the production team and leads kaizen events to instill a culture of continuous improvement. This is viewed as a grooming assignment with solid potential for career elevation within operations in a 20-24 month time frame. Of the five companies which comprise this business group, our client is the largest company.

The client requires an undergraduate degree, preferring Engineering or Technical disciplines, and MBA or solid progress toward MBA attainment. Candidates must have at least 8 years manufacturing experience, at least 5 years within operations, and prior supervisory roles in production management. Previous roles in operations excellence/process improvement/continuous improvement, which required kaizen leadership, are excellent preparation for this position. Individuals must be accomplished driving lean initiatives such as 5S, standardized work, cellular transformation, value stream mapping, visual factory, kanban replenishment, etc. This role develops, mentors, and coaches. Team building, a metrics focus, and superior communication skills are paramount for success and advancement.
