A small, specialty pharmaceutical company is expanding its services to include contract manufacturing for the nutraceutical industry.  The nutritional supplement industry is booming and this innovative organization has developed a breakthrough time-release technology that provides tailored product profiles for single and multiple ingredients.  With extensive financing and a unique, patented technology they are experiencing rapid growth, so now is the time to build a new business unit dedicated to the nutritional segment of the industry.  They provide an exciting work environment where their teams have unusually strong personal chemistry.  If you like building things and want to be a company architect in a small, high-growth organization then this could be the opportunity for you.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

 

The National Sales Director will plan the strategy and drive the growth of the nutraceutical contract manufacturing business.  Reporting to the President of the organization, you will develop and execute a targeted marketing strategy and effective sales call plan in this emerging segment.  In addition to leveraging the unique time-release technology, you will also be able to sell GMP certification status that was recently conferred by the FDA.  Many nutritional supplement manufacturers do not have GMP certification so this is a significant benefit.  The new state-of-the art manufacturing facility is now fully operational and we need an ambitious sales professional to drive revenue and growth for this new business unit.

 

Specific duties include indentifying and developing new prospects as well as maintaining on-going customer relationships.  You will manage trade show schedules, develop budgets, and maintain legal relationships with customers to assure appropriate compliance.  This is a high-profile role where you will presenting to senior management on a routine basis, and we need someone who is comfortable taking initiative and making positive things happen.  Extensive overnight travel is required for this nationwide assignment.  The Sales Director can be based in any major US city with good airport access. 

 

Qualifications:

 

This is a crucial time in the evolution of our organization and we need a truly extraordinary person.  The successful candidate will have the following qualities:

 

  • 5+ years of sales experience and extensive relationships in the nutraceutical, nutritional supplement or medical food business,
  • Knowledge and familiarity with contract manufacturing services
  • Excellent interpersonal, analytical and presentation skills
  • Bachelor’s degree or better
