Description

Company offers services for children and families dealing with autism and other developmental disabilities.

 

OVERALL OBJECTIVES:           Controller will be responsible for coordination and supervision of the general accounting functions as well as day to day business activities that plan for growth as well as maintaining positive relationships with the school districts and regional centers.

As the top financial position this role will act as a liaison to the CEO and provide granularity in financial information and answer any questions related to the financial performance of the Company.

 

This position will be responsible for the coordination of the monthly close and for the preparation of the financial statements and will report to the Founder/CEO.  Specific duties and responsibilities will include the following:

 

Create systems for maintaining compliance with both individual contracts and regulatory schemes and generate follow-up reminders in order to assure compliance.

 

Assists in the evaluation and documenting of the Company’s internal controls and makes recommendations for improvements to  payroll, job cost analysis, data entry and time management tracking and to maximize profit margin.

 

Develops sound financial and accounting policies and procedures.

Ensures timely and accurate monthly account reconciliation.  Assists in the coordination of the annual audit.

 

This “hands on” role will set the monthly closing schedule and coordinate the work of the Accounting Manager, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and others as it relates to the close.

 

 

SPECIFIC EXPERIENCE: 

• Must have a minimum of ten years of progressive financial experience with hands on management of a growing company and managing A/R, A/P, Payroll and reporting. Healthcare services experience preferred.  Previous responsibility for human resources including benefits and information technology a plus.

 

• Strong knowledge of job costing and pricing. Must have solid experience in GL accounting and forecasting.  Must have familiarity with unique California personnel/hourly/part-time tax matters.

 

• Prefer knowledge of implementation of accounting/reporting systems. Prefer familiarity with web based electronic billing systems, scheduling and tracking software and payroll systems.

 

• Familiarity with school districts and regional centers preferred.

 

• Must have a strong team orientation and ability to work well with the key personnel. 

 

• Must be hands-on, energetic, and results-oriented, with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

 

• Will have service company experience with a strong customer service philosophy

 

• CPA /MBA preferred

 

 

 

COMPENSATION:                          Commensurate with experience and historical compensation

 

LOCATION:                                      Los Angeles, California

 

RELOCATION                                  Prefer commutable candidates
